A policeman in Kenya shot himself in the mouth in a Town known as Garissa on Tuesday due to his transfer to a place he thought was not good enough after serving in the town for three years.
According to The Standard, the officer and his colleagues were suffering stress after being posted to serve in the region for three years. They were expecting to be transferred to a better place only to be sent to serve at the Ijara AP camp.
They said, “He was moved to near a post that was attacked by Al-shabaab late last year. He was stressed and left a note to show he was not happy.”
Meanwhile, The North Eastern regional coordinator, Mohammed Saleh disclosed that the matter was under investigation. This appears to be the latest incident involving the police in a series that have been recently carried by reports.
According to the Police, there was a rise in such cases due to the stress that was inherent in the service. It was also noted that the relationships of the officers with their families, colleagues, seniors, as well as other issues contributed to the cause of such incidents.
