The Hon Minister of state for Petroleum Resources and Leader of A PC in Delta state, Dr Ibe Kachikwu has called on all aggrieved members of the party to be united.
A source close to the Minister who was away to the United States of America on official duties when the NWC of APC recently swore-in Prophet Jones Erue as chairman of APC Delta state learnt of the protests of some party members over the action and sued for calm and unity.
Our reliable sources were doubtful that the minister was consulted before the swearing-in as he was away.
The sources however said that typical of the Minister’s nature and never -give-up spirit, the Minister pledged to double his efforts to ensure unity and reconciliation in the state chapter of the party. A process that he has championed over the last two years and continues to do till now.
It was also gathered that the Minister’s decision not to run for Delta state Governor come 2019 stems from his sacrifice for peace and unity in the state and largely influenced by his resolve to be an impartial mediator.
So far, he remains the only person in the state with the unanimous confidence of the contending groups.
According to same source, the Minister on his return plans to embark earnestly on the consultations with the party’s NWC and the factions to resolve the stalemate.
