Chelsea play host to Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday. Both sides face each other after a series of tricky encounters in the last few weeks.
Meanwhile, ahead of the game, Chelsea’s hopes of a UCL place next season are gradually fading away, and only garnering maximum points on the night against Crystal Palace can improve their chances of participating the UCL next season, albeit down to the results of the opposition above them on the log who are also vying for a place in the top 4.
Chelsea sits 5th on the log, 5 points behind Tottenham who are still licking the sores of the UCL knockout injury inflicted on them by Juventus.
Crystal Palace, a bogey side for Chelsea lately also find themselves still battling in relegation waters. No thanks to losing a 2 goal cushion against Manchester United, and losing all 3 points to a Nemanja Matic screamer in injury time. A game which they played with a good number of their key players missing.
Reports suggest that Wilfried Zaha who loves to play Chelsea, as well as Mamadou Sakho are back in contention for the tie at Stamford Bridge, as revealed by Roy Hodgson during a presser.
Hodgson revealed that Zaha is ahead of schedule on his return from a knee injury and returned to first-team training on Thursday, although it was a modified session.
Mamadou Sakho is also expected to join up with the group on Friday following his recent calf issues.
